Spirituality and Wishful thinking for the New Year?

First of all, a very happy new year. I know, it's the 2nd of January, so it is still a new year!

Last year was a chaotic year, while this year, although a continuation, still brings us a lot of hope to look into the future! From vaccines to the things, slowly improving, we can only hope for the year to bring us joy!

My condolences are with every single one of them who had to fall victim to the COVID-19 pandemic and I hope things get better. <3

On that note, here's me writing something pleasant to begin this year with- SPIRITUALITY.

During the period of lockdown, I started embracing myself more, my self-love journey amplified and the need to be independent increased by a lot. I remember reading Paulo Coelho's book- Brida when I was in grade 10. At that moment, it was yet another book which intrigued me but as a 15-year-old, I did not understand it to the depth, I do now.

We're just talking about keeping your soul happy.

Spirituality is a beautiful wide term. The dictionary meaning characterizes spirituality as "the nature of being worried about the human soul or soul instead of material or actual things."

Somewhat ambiguous right? How about we check whether we can separate it and figure out what spirituality is and how might we bring it into our lives?

So, what exactly is SPIRITUALITY?

For every human being out there, this term is very different. Someone who may be spiritual may not be religious while someone who may be religious may not be spiritual. Religion shows a well-defined path that all its members generally follow, while spirituality is a path chosen by the individual. You do not have to believe in God to be spiritual. It opens realms to your heart and soul being one of the most unique identities of your own self.

Spirituality encourages introspection.

Spirituality urges us to search inside, as opposed to others for the appropriate responses. Utilizing strategies like journaling and contemplation or meditation, we investigate approaches to recuperate past injuries and gain proficiency with the exercises inside them. For our life and encounters holds all the exercises we require.

It urges us to search out approaches to be simply the best form, developing and extending to meet our maximum capacity. This is our spirit reason. To look inside and turn into our most ideal selves.

Spirituality gives us a sense of purpose.

Since you've already introspected yourself, you know that you now have a purpose that you need to fulfil. This purpose can be anything, from finding your Ikigai to understanding your daily goals and accomplishing them, you name it, and you already know the answer to it.

But most importantly, how do you create your own spiritual spaces?

Do what you love. Yes, exactly that! If you love dancing, singing, journaling, anything that makes you happy, do it!

Here are some suggestions:

  • Meditation

  • Prayer

  • Ritual

  • Drumming

  • Yoga

  • Gratitude Practice

  • Being of service to others

  • Connecting with nature

  • Spiritual learning (books, videos, classes, etc…)

  • Journal

  • Breathwork

  • Being joyful

I recommend trying as many different ways of practising spirituality as you can. Then choose a couple you really enjoy to start your practice.

Once you have chosen how you need to communicate your spirituality, it's an ideal opportunity to rehearse. It's a smart thought not to overpower or overwhelm yourself. When it turns into a propensity, you can start to develop your habit. You might need to begin by growing your insight with a spiritual book. Taking the time each day to state thank you, will raise your vibrations and assist you with lining up with your objective, your source, your main goal of your life. Expanding on that, you can begin an appreciation diary- a gratitude journal. Perhaps, attempt a week by week custom while building on a ritual, to show your appreciation.

Your spirituality isn't about the objective. It genuinely is about the excursion. So set aside effort to delight in that profound journey. Experiment with your habits and permit it to grow and advance as you do. Attempt new things, learn new things, and tune in to Spirit. It is consistently there assisting with controlling you en route.

I hope you've found this blog useful and it has given you a small insight! Till then,
